Adult ADHD & controlled-substance policy

ADHD is evaluated, not prescribed. Your first visit is a 60–75 minute psychiatric evaluation that reviews symptoms, developmental and school history, work and life impact, family history, and conditions that can mimic ADHD (anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, substance-related concerns). Treatment recommendations come after the evaluation, not before.

Validated cognitive assessment (Creyos). When clinically appropriate, eligible patients may complete a provider-directed Creyos digital cognitive assessment — a validated tool that supports the clinical evaluation. Creyos does not diagnose ADHD on its own and does not guarantee any medication. There is a one-time $200 access fee for eligible patients.

Controlled substances are never guaranteed. Stimulants, benzodiazepines, and other controlled substances are prescribed only when clinically appropriate after a full evaluation. Existing prescriptions from outside providers are not transferred sight-unseen — new patients are still seen for a complete evaluation before any continuation, adjustment, or taper decision.

When SLS is not the right fit. If you are looking for a same-day stimulant prescription without an evaluation, or expect controlled medications to be continued without clinical review, SLS Psychiatry is not the right fit — and we would rather tell you up front than have you arrive disappointed.

Scope of practice notice

SLS Psychiatry provides outpatient psychiatric care for adults (18+). We do not provide:

  • Ongoing standalone therapy
  • Intensive outpatient programs (IOP)
  • Detox or inpatient rehabilitation services
  • Emergency psychiatric crisis response
  • Pediatric or adolescent care

Patients requiring a higher level of care or emergency services should seek immediate assistance at the nearest emergency room or call 911.
